While many focus on their physical and mental well-being hardly anyone gives a thought to their spiritual well-being.  The foundation of one’s personality rests on the spiritual personality. If you wish to grow to great spiritual dimensions you ought to delve deep into your inner personality. The philosophy of Vedanta provides spiritual education to measure and maintain your spiritual well-being.

Venue

Mountain Valley Lodge

Mountain Valley Lodge is a workshop and retreat centre that marries the inspirations of Mind to the demands of Matter in an African context. Rooted in a sacred valley in the Maluti foothills, in a place that’s been revered by healers and seers for millennia, the institute looks beyond dogma to where indigenous wisdom and progressive science meet.

The Lodge is located at Eagle Valley Farm in the Eastern Free State, on the R26 between Ficksburg and Fouriesburg.

This retreat will cover a text entitled Bhaja Govindam.  The Bhaja Govindam gives out the basic instructions on life.  It highlights the two human motivations – acquisition and enjoyment. Its thirty-one verses point out the delusion in external pursuit and urges one to seek the supreme Self.
Bhaja Govindam contains thirty-one verses. It was composed by the philosopher-saint Adi Sankaracarya, popularly known as Sankara. He was born in 788 A.D. in Kaladi, a village in the west coast of India. Early in life he took to sannyasa, celibacy and renunciation. He died at the age of thirty-two.

So long as childhood lasts, one is attached to play; so long as youth lasts, one is attached to damsel; so long old age lasts, one is attached to worry - who is ever attached to the supreme Reality?  -  Bhaja Govindam, Verse 7
